CFP Board Elects New Chairman

The Financial Planning Association has elected a new Board of Directors for 2018. Richard Salmen, CFP (FPA), who has served in the past as a national President of the Financial Planning Association, is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Northern Financial Advisors, Inc. Northern Financial Advisors, Inc. is a financial planning and investment advisory firm based in Michigan. Mr. Salmen spent nearly 16 years at BOK Financial, before becoming CEO of Northern Financial Advisors.

Outside of the financial sector, Mr. Salmen served in the Army and Army Reserve, retiring at the rank of Captain. He also recently retired from being an air traffic controller in Kansas. Mr. Salmen has an MBA from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

“We are very fortunate to have Richard serving as our 2018 Chair-elect. He brings to the position a great amount of knowledge, wisdom and passion for the financial planning profession,” said current Board of Directors Chair Mike Greene, CFP.
