Mariner Wealth Advisors LLC disclosed a data breach that exposed personal information of 8,995 customers, according to AdvisorHub. Mariner notified affected individuals that a November 2025 cybersecurity incident impacted three associates' cloud-based applications.

Mariner informed customers that unauthorized parties may have gained access to personal information, including account numbers, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers. The firm stated that its financial and investment account systems operate separately and were not affected by the incident.

Mariner reported that it detected suspicious activity in November 2025 and immediately launched its incident response plan. The firm said it moved quickly to isolate, secure, and analyze the affected accounts in an effort to contain the incident. Mariner also stated that it has remained in contact with federal law enforcement and regulatory authorities regarding the matter.

According to the company's notice, a criminal third party accessed the affected cloud accounts and downloaded certain files. However, Mariner stated that it has not found evidence that the exposed information has been misused, as reported by AdvisorHub.

As reported by AdvisorHub, Mariner has retained a third-party monitoring service to search websites, forums, and other online sources for signs of data misuse. The firm is also offering identity theft protection services to affected customers.

In a statement cited by AdvisorHub, a Mariner spokesperson said the firm takes information security seriously and continues to work with cybersecurity specialists. The spokesperson also stated that the incident has not affected the firm's client services or its commitment to customers.

AdvisorHub noted that cybersecurity incidents and data breaches have become an increasingly common challenge across the wealth management industry.
