LPL Financial Faces Investor Claims Tied to Former Broker's Outside Activities

From the desk of Jim Eccleston at Eccleston Law

LPL Financial faces at least nine pending investor claims involving former El Paso, Texas broker Michael C. Graham and allegations related to outside business activities and private investments, according to InvestmentNews.

Graham worked at LPL from 2019 until the firm discharged him in June 2025. According to his BrokerCheck profile, LPL terminated Graham after finding that he failed to disclose and obtain approval for a prohibited outside business activity and participated in and directed clients to private investments.

Graham died in November at age 53, according to an online obituary.

The investor claims against LPL remain pending despite Graham's death. One customer alleges that Graham made misrepresentations involving a loan connected to a real estate transaction and seeks $25,000 in damages. Eight other pending customer complaints allege nearly $840,000 in combined damages, according to Graham's BrokerCheck profile.

LPL has also paid $455,000 to resolve three customer disputes involving Graham, InvestmentNews reports. An LPL spokesperson declined to comment.

The pending claims center on conduct that allegedly occurred while Graham remained affiliated with LPL, leaving the firm to address investor allegations concerning both Graham's activities and the supervision of those transactions.
