Former Robert W. Baird Recruiter Files Lawsuit Against Firm
From the Desk of Jim Eccleston at Eccleston Law LLC:
A former Robert W. Baird recruiter has filed a lawsuit in Colorado state court against his former firm for failing to pay him commissions, discriminatory and unfair employment practices, and breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing.
According to the complaint, the recruiter alleges that Baird owes him at least $4 million for never compensating him for securing a pipeline of potential recruits for the firm before he was unexpectedly terminated in August. In addition, the recruiter asserts that Baird clawed back $157,000 in the form of bonuses owed to him and failed to compensate him for an arrangement he had made with a branch manager where he would split the manager’s upfront bonus for recruiting a highly sought-after Morgan Stanley broker.
However, Baird disputes the allegations made against the firm and claims that the recruiter was terminated only because management lost confidence in him and that he undermined management by telling his fellow employees that he planned to resign from Baird.
The recruiter in his complaint disputed Baird’s reasoning for his termination and emphasized that just six months before he was terminated he had received a certificate of appreciation from the firm.
In his complaint, the recruiter is seeking compensatory damages, civil penalties, interest, and attorneys’ fees under Colorado’s Wage Claim Act.
