Edward D. Jones & Co. has acquired a minority stake in fintech company Carefull, a platform designed to help identify potential financial fraud and other risks affecting older investors, according to AdvisorHub.

As part of the investment, Edward Jones will make Carefull's services available at no cost to its approximately 9 million clients through the firm's network of roughly 20,000 financial advisors. The company did not disclose the size of its investment, AdvisorHub reports.

Carefull monitors financial accounts and alerts clients or designated trusted contacts when it detects suspicious activity. According to AdvisorHub, the platform reviews transactions and monitors credit reports, email activity, home title records, and other data sources for signs of fraud, scams, or cognitive decline.

The investment reflects a growing focus within the wealth management industry on protecting aging clients from financial exploitation. As InvestmentNews notes, advisors increasingly encounter situations involving diminished capacity and potential elder fraud. The need for such protections remains significant. Americans age 60 and older reported more than $7.7 billion in losses from cyber-enabled financial crime during 2025, according to an FBI report cited by AdvisorHub.

Carefull, founded in 2019, has raised approximately $20 million and serves several wealth management firms. According to AdvisorHub, the company's client base includes Osaic, as well as registered investment advisory firms Integrated Partners and Quotient Wealth Partners.

Carefull operates in a competitive market that includes firms such as EverSafe and True Link Financial, both of which offer tools designed to help older adults and their families monitor financial activity and reduce the risk of fraud, according to AdvisorHub.
